　　Diaphragm seals are a type of pressure seal for → measurement devices, separating the device from the process to prevent the medium whose pressure is being measured from entering the measuring system. This protects the measuring instruments from aggressive, highly viscous, or solidifying media as well as from high medium temperatures. Isolating diaphragms also attenuate fluctuations and sharp peaks of the measured pressure and enhance the → overload limit of the instrument. Additionally, they make it possible to install manometers in constricted spaces, explosive atmospheres, and without dead spaces.
