　　A thermowell for invasive temperature measurement extends into the medium through the surface of a tube. The thermowell is made of thermally conductive material and separates the thermometer from the medium. This not only avoids pollution of the medium. In pressurised or aggressive media, the tube also prevents damage to the measuring instrument. The temperature sensor of the thermometer is inserted into the thermowell and thus detects the temperature of the medium without touching it directly.
